Located on the Northern bank of the Skagit River, Lyman was named after Lorenzo B. Lyman in 1880. The site of the future town became a gathering place for miners who travelled upriver during the Ruby Creek Gold Rush. Lyman was officially incorporated on May 8, 1909.
